Synean is a design agency located in Japan. We work with design of the intangible: services, relationships, rituals, competencies and organizations - all the things we all know are important, but that we find it hard to deal with.
We extend this understanding to working with teams, as we want them to work better together as people. The methods of design can help with this, and our hands-on approach provides a way for people to interact with their products, services and colleagues in ways that they might have forgotten in the grind of the everyday.

BA. Aesthetics and Culture, M.Sc. Service Systems Design
Esben Groendal first studied aesthetics at one of the few universities in Europe still offering this classical science of the senses as a dedicated liberal arts programme. Then, after working in Japan for a year, he understood that the potential he felt in the study of aesthetics, could be fully realized in the budding areas of service design and user experience design; to take seriously what users feel as they interact with our services. To take them seriously as people.
Esben first came to Japan in 2004. He has passed the JLPT1 and scored 533 on the BJT.
